What this means in plain words

• ZenExpenses is not financial advice. Nothing you see in the app, categorisations, summaries, charts, or suggestions, is investment, tax, accounting, or financial-planning advice.
• We are not registered investment advisors, accountants, tax professionals, or certified financial planners.
• Don't make financial decisions based on what ZenExpenses shows you. Talk to a qualified professional before you act.

1. Not financial advice

ZenExpenses is an organisational tool that helps you see your own spending. Everything it shows you, including any automatically generated category, summary, chart, or insight, is for informational purposes only. It is not:

• investment advice,
• tax advice,
• accounting advice,
• legal advice,
• a financial plan, or
• a recommendation to take any specific action with your money.

We are not a registered investment advisor, registered accountant, tax preparer, or certified financial planner in any jurisdiction.

2. Don't make financial decisions based on it alone

Always consult a qualified professional (a registered advisor, an accountant, a tax preparer) before making decisions about your finances, taxes, investments, or budget. We do not assume responsibility for decisions you make based on what the app displays.

3. Accuracy of suggestions

ZenExpenses includes features that automate work for you, including auto-categorisation rules and summary outputs. These features can be wrong:

• Automatic categorisation may misclassify a transaction.
• Summaries may miscount or omit transactions.
• Any text-based summary or insight the app produces may contain inaccuracies.

Always verify before you rely on it. Treat the app's output as a starting point, not a source of truth.

4. Your account

• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials safe.
• You are responsible for the data you upload, only upload data you have the right to use.
• One person, one account. Don't share accounts.

5. Acceptable use

Don't:

• upload data that isn't yours or that you don't have permission to upload,
• attempt to break into other accounts or the system,
• scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract our code or other users' data,
• use the service to harass, defraud, or harm anyone,
• circumvent rate limits or security features.

We can suspend or terminate any account that violates these rules.

6. Service availability

ZenExpenses is provided as is and as available. We try hard to keep it up and working, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate service. There is no SLA on the free tier.

7. Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of ZenExpenses is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim (which, if you're on the free tier, is zero). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data beyond what we can recover from backups, or financial losses resulting from decisions you made based on the app.

8. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, with or without notice. If we terminate your account for cause, the obligations in §1, §2, §7, §9, and §10 survive.

9. Changes to these terms

If we make a material change, we'll bump the version at the top, post the new terms in the app, and ask you to re-accept them the next time you sign in.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of ZenExpenses is incorporated. Any dispute will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction. (We'll fill in the specifics in a future version once the operating entity is finalised.)
